I wish you were here

At my side on the banks of Mahanadi

On a night like this one

When the moon is all shine

Oh, how I wish you were here

The stretch of silver sand

And the song of gentle waves

All but remind me of you

At my side, hand in hand,

Saying nothing but everything

Oh, how nice if you could be here

Whispering wind whisking your hair on my face

I wish you were here at my side

Near the river when the moon is all shine

I think I composed this sitting on the banks of Mahanadi, Cuttack, reclining in the cement bench near Gadagadia Temple, on a full moon night - April 16 1981. In fact, the night I am putting this down on paper is only a night away from the full moon night.
